WBRU is one of the oldest college radio stations in the United States, having been founded in 1955. It is also one of the most popular college radio stations in the country, with an estimated weekly audience of over 100,000 listeners. WBRU is known for its commitment to local music, and has been a launching pad for many successful artists, including The Cranberries, The Breeders, and The Dropkick Murphys.
