Launched in 1999, it is one of the public service broadcasting channels of Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), the national broadcaster of Ireland. The station broadcasts a wide range of classical music, including orchestral, choral, chamber, opera, and contemporary works, as well as jazz and world music. RTÉ lyric fm also features a number of cultural and artistic programs, including interviews with composers, musicians, and other artists, as well as discussions and features on art, literature, and film.
