Ottawa Hot 89.9 (CIHTFM): The Heartbeat of Hit Music in Canada’s Capital

Ottawa Hot 89.9 (CIHTFM) has firmly established itself as Ottawa's number one hit music station, delivering the hottest tracks and vibrant programming to listeners across the city. Owned and operated by Bell Media, this popular radio station specializes in a hot adult contemporary format, seamlessly blending current hits with nostalgic favorites from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.

Originally launched in 1988 as CHEZ-FM, the station underwent a significant rebranding in 2002 to become Hot 89.9. This transformation was not just a change of name; it marked a shift toward a more contemporary sound that resonated with a diverse audience. Today, Hot 89.9 is recognized as the only hot adult contemporary station in Ottawa, and its engaging mix of music has made it a staple in the local radio landscape.

At the heart of Hot 89.9's success is its flagship morning show, “The Morning Hot Tub,” hosted by the dynamic quartet of Mauler, Rush, Jenni, and Josie. This lively program has captured the hearts of listeners with its entertaining banter, interviews, and music, making it a must-listen for those starting their day. The chemistry among the hosts creates a sense of community, drawing listeners in and keeping them engaged.

The station's commitment to quality programming extends beyond the morning show. Hot 89.9 features a variety of specialty programming, including a weekly Top 40 countdown that showcases the most popular tracks of the moment and a show dedicated to promoting Canadian music. This focus on local talent is vital, as it allows listeners to connect with homegrown artists and celebrates the rich musical diversity of the country.

In addition to its on-air programming, Ottawa Hot 89.9 is deeply invested in the community. The station regularly hosts events and fundraisers, contributing to various charitable initiatives throughout the year. One of its hallmark events is the annual CHEO Telethon, which raises funds for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. This involvement reflects the station’s commitment to making a positive impact in the community and reinforcing its role as a responsible media presence.

As Ottawa Hot 89.9 continues to evolve with the changing music landscape, its dedication to providing a fun and engaging listening experience remains unchanged. Whether you’re tuning in for the latest hits or catching up with the lively morning crew, Ottawa Hot 89.9 is the go-to destination for music lovers in Canada’s capital, ensuring that listeners are always connected to the vibrant pulse of contemporary music culture.
