Yofochm Radio Uganda: Faith, Hope and Community from Kampala

Broadcasting from Kampala, Yofochm Radio Uganda is an online Christian station that combines gospel music, spiritual discussion and community outreach. Rather than operating as a conventional commercial broadcaster, the station presents itself as a platform for encouragement, ministry and positive social change.

Yofochm Radio was established by young Ugandans through Youth for Charity Missions International, the organization from which the station takes its name. Its central mission is to create opportunities for listeners to strengthen their Christian faith while extending messages of hope, healing and reconciliation to audiences in Uganda and abroad. Public station listings describe its schedule as primarily focused on gospel and Christian programming.

Music forms an important part of the station’s identity. Yofochm Radio streams gospel, worship and Christian contemporary tracks, offering listeners a continuous faith-based soundtrack alongside inspirational programs and conversations. Its slogan, “Your Charity Voice,” reflects an ambition that goes beyond entertainment: broadcasting is treated as a means of supporting both spiritual development and charitable action.

The station’s community role is particularly distinctive. Yofochm has said that its facilities have been opened to young people seeking practical experience in media and computing. Free training, internships and opportunities to develop basic journalism skills are intended to help students, graduates and unemployed youth gain experience in an industry that can otherwise be difficult to enter.

Programming also incorporates educational and socially relevant themes. Shows such as Mwalimu Show have been presented as forms of “edutainment,” blending Christian values with discussions designed to inform and motivate listeners. The wider organization behind the station is involved in youth development, charity, education and community initiatives, reinforcing the connection between Yofochm’s broadcasts and its work on the ground.

As an internet-based service, Yofochm Radio is not limited by the geographical reach of an FM transmitter. Listeners can access its programming through the station’s website, online radio directories and a dedicated Android application. The app, maintained by Yofochm Media, was updated in September 2025 and supports the station’s goal of reaching listeners well beyond Kampala.

Yofochm Radio Uganda occupies a distinctive space in the country’s digital broadcasting landscape.
